Hello you!

You’ve found The Quiet Guide Privacy Page, and I salute your attention to detail! I just want to be upfront about the little bits of info I collect when you visit, how I use it, and what control you have over it. Privacy is key in my world which means your privacy is equally important to me, so I keep things simple and straightforward. Please see below for all the information — if not a little bit of a dry read (sorry). But if you ever want to chat about it or have any questions, do let me know. Thank you! Happy reading 🌿

Who I am:

My website address is: https://thequietguide.com.

Comments & Logins:

I do ask for your name when you leave a comment (I’m still figuring out how to remove it!), but you won’t need to create an account or log in. It’s all about keeping things simple and welcoming. Your name helps me keep track of conversations, but I don’t collect any other personal info or make you jump through hoops.

Media:

If you upload images to the website, please avoid images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies:

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience, so you don’t have to fill in your details again next time. These cookies last for one year.

When you visit the login page (which isn’t needed for commenting), a temporary cookie is set to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and disappears when you close your browser.

If you log in (not required for comments), login cookies save your info for two days, and screen options cookies for a year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, an extra cookie stores the post ID for one day; it doesn’t include personal data.

Embedded content from other websites:

Articles may include embedded content (like videos or images). These behave as if you visited the other site, which may collect data, use cookies, or track your interaction.

Who we share your data with:

If you request a password reset (again, not needed for comments), your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data:

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely to help recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.

For registered users (if any), personal info provided is stored in their profiles. Users can view, edit, or delete their info (except usernames). Admins can edit user info as well.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of your personal data or ask for it to be erased. This doesn’t include data required for administrative, legal, or security reasons.

Where Your Data Is Sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Google Analytics

I use Google Analytics to better understand how visitors use my site. This helps me improve your experience. Google Analytics collects data anonymously and does not personally identify you. For more info, you can visit Google’s Privacy Policy.
